Richard Jay Silverthorn, who plays Lucifer in the film, also did the makeup work on the film. Later Silverthorn would also write a published novelization of Fear No Evil.
Painted cornflakes were used for zombie makeup.
At around the 16 minute mark, with the introduction of the high school, a man is seen pushing a broom in the hall, taking his hat off to a lady walking by. That was the real janitor for the high school they were filming at.
Due to budget, time constraints, and disorganization, a number of extras were cast last minute. The janitor pushing a broom in a hallway at the school was the actual janitor at the school at the time of the filming. One of the boys in the shower scene was a student recruited at a soccer practice taking place at the school the morning of the shooting of the scene. Likewise two of the women in the scene at the graveside of the kid who was killed in the dodge ball scene were real visitors to the cemetery in the scene.
During his commentary in the Blue-Ray version, Stefan Arngrim discusses the shower scene. He says that the scene was incredibly awkward to make for a number of reasons, including the fact that all of the six guys were completely nude for the filming of the scene, his character's infamous extended kiss with Tony, played by Daniel Eden, and also for several additional reasons. He states that it was the very first scene to be filmed and that except for the fact that he and Daniel Eden had been on the same flight on the way to New York and briefly met on it, none the six guys who participated in the scene had even met each other, let alone had the opportunity to get know each other prior to the filming. Arngrim discusses the general disorganization and chaos which plagued the production of the film. An example of this is that one of the six actors scheduled to be in the shower scene canceled last minute. Someone on the production team scurried to find a replacement, recruiting a boy who was a student at the high school at which the scene was being filmed at soccer practice taking place at the school the morning of the shooting to take his place. Finally, Arngrim recounts that because the scene was shot before the beginning of the school year, the hot water had not been turned on and that the water in the shower was cold.
