The Killing of Angel Street (1981)

Trivia

The Killing of Angel Street

Edit
This film was based on the same actual events in Australia during the mid 1970s as the film Heatwave (1982) and both pictures were made around the same time. This movie was theatrically released first about six months prior to Heatwave (1982).
Julie Christie was originally considered for the role of Jessica Simmonds and agreed to take the part, but due to script delays and funding problems she later opted out.
This movie was inspired by the real life disappearance of Juanita Nielsen and he campaign against high-rise developments in Kings Cross, Sydney.
This film was one of two Australian movies that were inspired by the campaigns against Kings Cross, Sydney high-rise developments and the real life disappearance of Juanita Nielsen that were made around 1981-1982. The other film was Heatwave (1982). The production shoots in Sydney overlapped and reportedly, at one time, both films were lensing in the same street in Sydney.
This movie was made and released about six years after the disappearance and alleged death of Juanita Joan Nielsen (22 April 1937 - est. c. July 4, 1975).
