A comedy exclusively for those who are used to this sort of thing

A dwarf and his ugly buddy are begging but really picking pockets. They snag Raymond Lui Shing-Gung's purse and go to the woods where they get into a fight dividing the loot. Raymond arrives and teaches them a lesson. Later he meets a girl who asks him to deliver a sword and that becomes the focus of the rest of the movie. He tries to deliver the sword to the correct owner and others try to steal it, all in a funny way.

This is comedy of the low level with plenty of smelly feet and manure in the wrong places. The characters were cast for their physical oddities and a lot of absurd make up added too. All the acting is overacting and all the fights are slapstick. Comedy like this is an acquired taste and I will admit I liked it but most people would not.

The "Sandman" title is a mystery. Many of these movies were renamed to grab the attention of VHS renters. Words like "shaolin" and "dragon" and of course names like "Bruce Lee" were added for that purpose. Why "Sandman" ? I can only guess someone didn't understand English that well.

Raymond Lui Shing-Gung is listed as the action director, director, and lead actor here. I can find little information about him except that he appeared on the movie set in the early 1970s and was an all around guy who could write, direct, act, and choreograph fights. Every movie I have with him listed has the same thing in common – it is the poorest acceptable video quality and trying to find a better copy has been futile. I cannot even recommend this movie for that reason. Unless you are a hard core fan of these movies and used to watching a third generation VHS conversion to a 250 mb video file that has to be watched on a cell phone because on a wide screen HD television it would look like a blob, well, you would give up after one minute of blob.
