The Oklahoma City Dolls is a fairly average movie with some good messages.

I recently watched The Oklahoma City Dolls (1981) on Tubi. The storyline follows a group of women working at a manufacturing plant who are left to finish the job while the men are let off early to play football. Frustrated by the unfairness, some of the women decide to start their own football league to get out of work, too. When the company owner tries to shut them down, the women find a rival team to keep their league alive.

Directed by E. W. Swackhamer (Cocaine and Blue Eyes), the film stars Susan Blakely (The Towering Inferno), Ronee Blakley (Nashville), Sarah Cunningham (The Cowboys), Jack Ging (High Plains Drifter), and Robert Easton (Red Heat).

As a made-for-TV movie, it delivers some interesting messages about workplace dynamics and gender biases. The characters are engaging, and the premise is unique. However, the way men treat and behave toward the women is jarring-likely reflective of the era but uncomfortable to watch. The pacing is solid, and the storyline reminded me of The Bad News Bears in its underdog charm. While the plot is predictable, it's still enjoyable to watch unfold.

In conclusion, The Oklahoma City Dolls is a fairly average movie with some good messages. I'd give it a 5/10 and only recommend it if you're looking for something different.

    Ideal for bored housewives

Yes, this is the perfecto example of TV stuff made for housewives to fill their empty afternoons between washing machine, ironing and before getting kids at school. A feminist movie speaking of ordinary women who eventually become famous athletes in a football team. This also could have been the topic for a Bob Aldrich's film. Don't forget that our man not ONLY made films for die hard men - DIRTY DOZEN, LONGEST YARD, TOO LATE THE HEROES, EMPEROR OF THE NORTH, but also films for women such as KILLING OF SISTER GEORGES, HUSH HUSH SWWET CHARLOTTE, WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE, and of course, CALIFORNIA DOLLS, the most close to this one !!!
