The film was shot in 1977 but not broadcast until 1981.
The electric cars used in the film were CitiCars made by Sebring-Vanguard, Inc., Sebring, Florida. There were only 2,100 or so of these cars made from 1974 to 1978. A dealer in California provided about seven of them for the film.
The film takes place in 1995.
