Anderson’s longtime publicist, Cheryl J. Kagan, said that Anderson had been battling a “prolonged” illness and died at a Los Angeles hospital. Anderson’s family also released a statement, “We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear wife, mother and grandmother.”

Anderson was born to environmental chemist Klaydon Anderson and model Maxine Hazel in 1954. Starting her four-decade musical theater career at the age of 10, Anderson’s first Hollywood role saw her in the 1966 western, Nevada Smith. The movie did not succeed in attracting her attention as an actress, and her career struggled in the following years. In a 2007 interview, Anderson told Ability magazine, “Look up the definition of rejection in the dictionary… get really comfortable with it, and then maybe you can go into acting.”

Loni Anderson, the twice Emmy-nominated star of Wkrp in Cincinnati, has died at the age of 79, days before her 80th birthday.

Her cause of death was “an acute prolonged illness,” her longtime publicist, Cheryl J. Kagan, told Deadline.

“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear wife, mother and grandmother,” Anderson’s family said in a statement.

Anderson is best known for her role as the clever receptionist Jennifer Marlowe in CBS’ sitcom about the eccentric staff of a struggling Top 40 rock radio station in Ohio. Created by Hugh Wilson, the multi-cam comedy ran from 1978 through 1982, and Anderson’s ultra-capable employee appeared in all but one of the series’ 90 episodes. Earl Holliman, the actor best known for playing Angie Dickinson’s boss on the 1970s NBC cop drama Police Woman, has died. He was 96.

Holliman died Monday in hospice care at his home in Studio City, his spouse, Craig Curtis, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Holliman won a best supporting actor Golden Globe for portraying Katharine Hepburn’s girl-crazy kid brother in The Rainmaker (1956) — he beat out Elvis Presley for the role — and then appeared in another Burt Lancaster film, as Wyatt Earp’s assistant in Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957).

In the George Stevens epic Giant (1956), the Louisiana native played the son-in-law of Elizabeth Taylor and Rock Hudson’s characters, was the cook in Forbidden Planet (1956) and appeared as the brother of John Wayne, Dean Martin and Michael Anderson Jr. in Henry Hathaway’s The Sons of Katie Elder (1965).

It would throw off the narrative in most television shows to have the same person appear as different characters, with many only running for a few years. Moreover, the fact that NCIS has so many spinoffs means some actors can always show up on a different show as a new character.

The franchise has tackled over a thousand cases between NCIS and its many spinoff shows, meaning there have been thousands of opportunities to play a character attached to a weekly case. On Monday, TV Insider reported that CBS released the first photos from the NCIS Season 22 premiere episode entitled “Empty Nest.” The logline reads, “NCIS searches for a missing undercover agent in the midst of an active hostage situation.

NCIS fans are eagerly awaiting the premiere of season 22, but it may be a hard one for Jessica Knight! Here’s what we know!

Season 21 was a tough for fans and not just because it was delayed for months by the 2023 Hollywood strikes. First, the team had to bid a sad farewell to Ducky (the late David McCallum). Then Jessica (Katrina Law) had her father drop by to help with a case, and it turned out that she had never told him that she was dating Jimmy (Brian Dietzen).

Jessica’s dad was near obsessed with making sure she stuck to “the plan” to keep up her career to eventually become NCIS director. That came up in the season finale when Jessica was offered a big promotion training the React team in San Diego. After she and Parker barely survived being locked in a sinking ship, Jessica agreed to take the job.

McRt will return to more cases in NCIS Season 22 when it debuts this Fall. The season finds the team members doing their thing separately as each member pursues their interests but still solves mysteries and maintains law and order in the naval sect. CBS has released new images from the season premiere titled "Empty Nest," which show part of the team dealing with some concerning things while others are off to different endeavors.

I laugh when I hear people talk about how “The Bear” is a sure thing winner for Best Comedy Series and that it’s such a lock nothing whatsoever can derail it. Ha! Ha I say! Oh, it’s naturally the heavy favorite with its 23 nominations and has remained the overwhelming frontrunner clear through Emmy season, all right. In the Gold Derby combined Emmy odds, it’s running away with this race. The same is true of ““Shōgun” for drama after its giant haul of 25 Emmy bids. And nothing can beat “Baby Reindeer” for Best Limited Series, right? Jessica Gunning (“Baby Reindeer”) is a shoo-in for limited supporting actress, isn’t she? And no one could possibly beat Jamie Lee Curtis (“The Bear”) for comedy guest actress – could they?

But if Emmy history has taught us anything, it’s that upsets happen, even when it comes to shows and people considered locks.

Fans of ABC’s Abbott Elementary were thrilled to hear that a season 4 episode will feature a crossover event. Social media users immediately put on their thinking caps and speculated as to who would be making an appearance in the halls of the downtrodden Philadelphia grade school. Knowing the show is aired on a network owned by Disney, you can expect it to be someone in the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (here’s hoping Carmy or Syd from The Bear travel to Philly *fingers crossed*)

Bob Tischler, the writer and producer known for his work on Saturday Night Live, has died. He was 78.

The former SNL head writer, who is largely credited with helping revive the NBC sketch comedy show after its infamously panned 1980-81 season, died on July 13 at his home in Bodega Bay, California.

His son Zeke told The New York Times that the cause of death was pancreatic cancer.

Born June 12, 1946 in Englewood, New Jersey, Tischler attended Ithaca and Franconia Colleges in the 1960s before working as a sound engineer in radio and television.

After working together on a radio ad, Christopher Guest recommended him to National Lampoon, for which he produced the albums Radio Dinner (1972), Gold Turkey (1975) and That’s Not Funny, That’s Sick (1977), as well as The National Lampoon Radio Hour in 1973.

Actor Bill Cobbs, who amassed dozens of acting roles over the course of his career, has passed away. He was 90 years old.

Per Entertainment Weekly, Cobbs died of natural causes on Tuesday. His passing was confirmed by his publicist, Chuck I. Jones, who referred to the Night at the Museum star as "just a phenomenal human being." Jones further described the late actor as a "very genuine, kind, and concerned person who was always looking to help others."

Cobbs was born on June 16, 1934. After serving in the U.S. Air Force for eight years, Cobbs relocated to New York with hopes of launching an acting career in 1970. After getting his start with theater productions, the actor went on to make his feature film debut in 1974's The Taking of Pelham One Two Three. Bill Cobbs, a prolific film and TV actor with memorable performances in Night At The Museum, Brother From Another Planet, Oz The Great And Powerful, The Sopranos and dozens of others, died surrounded by family Tuesday, June 25, of natural causes at his home in Inland Empire, California. He was 90.

His death was announced by family members on Facebook, and confirmed to Deadline by his publicist Chuck I. Jones.

“We are saddened to share the passing of Bill Cobbs,” wrote brother Thomas G. Cobbs. “On Tuesday, June 25, Bill passed away peacefully at his home in California. Famed Argentine director Daniel Burman’s new feature “Transmitzvah,” his first in nearly eight years, will receive a Cinéma de la Plage world premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

The NBC sitcom "Night Court" was a satirical take on the zany and chaotic underworld of the midnight shift at the courthouse. With an unconventional, free-loving judge at the helm of this circus, there's no telling what might happen. The series was such a massive hit that it ran for nine whole seasons, featuring a cast of relatively unknown actors that, when assembled, formed one of the most acclaimed ensembles of all time. The show won eight Primetime Emmys and was nominated no less than 32 times. There are a number of TV shows that are known to have spawned other series, but some of these produced more spinoffs than are remembered. Among the forgotten spinoffs in the annals of TV history are the Friends follow-up show Joey and Mr. T and Tina, an offshoot of Welcome Back, Kotter that didn't even have anything to do with the famous Mr. T. Like these examples, many deserve to have fallen into obscurity.
