This motion picture entitled Kansas (1988) was actually filmed in various locations in the American state of Kansas in the USA including Topeka, Overbrook, Edgerton, Lawrence, St. Marys and Valley Falls.

The picture's producer George Litto once said this movie had "a great deal to say about America".

About 25% or a quarter of the sixty speaking parts in the picture were performed by local Kansan actors.

Star Matt Dillon one said of his Doyle Kennedy character in this film: "Kids will go for Doyle, he's a guy with so many contradictions. He's a guy after the American Dream. He sees ways of bettering himself; he's spontaneous and an opportunist. Only he pursues the dream in an amoral way".
