Shoot to Kill (1988)

Trivia

Shoot to Kill

Edit
Sidney Poitier's first acting role in eleven years.
In a fight with Tom Berenger, Sidney Poitier says he has been up against the Mafia, the Ku Klux Klan and the K.G.B. He has: in Let's Do It Again (1975), In the Heat of the Night (1967), and Little Nikita (1988), respectively.
Called "Deadly Pursuit" in the UK. Because of the recent massacre in Hungerford, where Micheal Ryan had gone on a shooting rampage killing around dozen people and injuring several others, it was thought to be in bad taste to release a film with "shoot" in the title.
The plot of this movie was used in an episode of MacGyver (1985). In season four, episode fifteen, "The Invisible Killer", Mac was trying to unmask an escaped convict on a scenic hike, and it aired only a little over a year after this film was released.
In the ferry boat confrontation, Stanton is seen aiming his handgun with only his left eye. Sidney Poitier is strongly left-eye dominant, but he is right handed, often called cross-eye dominant.
