First of three television roles in which David Arquette replaces another actor. All the previous actors had a connection to Francis Ford Coppola. His role on this series was originally played by Emilio Estevez, who not only played the role in Coppola's film, but is the son of Martin Sheen, who appeared in Apocalypse Now (1979). Arquette appeared in Dead Man's Walk (1996) as Augustus McCrae, the role originated by Robert Duvall, who also appeared in Apocalypse Now (1979), as well as The Rain People (1969), The Conversation (1974), The Godfather (1972) and The Godfather Part II (1974). Later this year, Arquette appeared on Parenthood (1990), in the role originally played by Keanu Reeves, who worked with Coppola on Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992). Arquette had his own connection to the Coppola family as well: his sister, Patricia Arquette, was married to Nicolas Cage.
