Katherine Flynn (Madame Royale) and Sean M. Flynn (Le Dauphin) are the real life children of Jane Seymour (Marie Antoinette).
Originally filmed in English, as well as French, in order to allow a broader release.
Among the few departures from the historical facts, the executioner Charles-Henri Sanson was shown executing both Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette. The elder Sanson actually executed only Louis XVI; it was his son who executed Marie-Antoinette.
Jane Seymour plays Marie Antoinette in this film. During the production she was complemented on her thoroughness in researching the role because of her particular form of speaking french. People were apparently very impressed by her speaking french with an Austrian accent. She was mystified by this until she figured out the lady who had taught her french and German as a girl was an Austrian who had relocated from Vienna to London before the war.
