    Aside from Barry Allen and Tina McGee, a few other DC Comics characters had appearances in the show in one form or another.

    Captain Cold, Mirror Master and Trickster all starred in episodes. In the comics they are all members of the "Rogues Gallery" and frequently fight the Flash.

    Jay Garrick (the previous Flash fromt he comics) is changed into Barry's brother. He has no superpowers in the show but still serves as a mentor to Barry.While in the comics Jay is still around, in the series he is killed in the pilot episode.

    The character of Nightshade, while not appearing in the comics, is based very heavily on the golden age Sandman. Both are characters from the past who have no superpowers but fight crime using guns that knockout criminals. Also, both wear similar masks, fedoras and trenchcoats.
