Narcotics detective John Kimble (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is forced to go undercover as a Kindergarten teacher in Astoria, Oregon in order to locate the wife and son of drug dealer and murderer Cullen Crisp (Richard Tyson), get her to testify against him in court, and recover the $3 million that she stole from him.

Kindergarten Cop was filmed from a screenplay by American screenwriters Murray Salem, Herschel Weingrod, and Timothy Harris.

Astoria is a city in northwestern Oregon, situated near the mouth of the Columbia River, about 100 miles from Portland, Oregon. The large bridge seen in many scenes in the movie is the Astoria-Megler Bridge, a 4.1-mile span over the mouth of the Columbia, linking Astoria with Washington.

Odette Anable says, "Mi papa trabaja en la casa, y juega conmigo mucho," which translates as "My father works in the house and plays with me a lot."

There never was $3 million. Cullen said that his wife took the money because he figured that, if people believed she was harboring $3 million, there would be lots of people looking for her, which would increase his chances of finding her and getting back Cullen Jr.
