Scenes set at Hartscombe Brewery were filmed at Brakspear's Brewery in New Street, Henley-on-Thames. The brewery has since been closed and the part of the site used for a lot of the exterior shots (mainly the narrow entrance) is now the Hotel Du Vin. In 1990, while the brewery was still working, it was used for interior shots in the Inspector Morse story The Sins of the Fathers (1990).
Filmed for 32 weeks from March 1985.
