Bates Motel (1987)

Trivia

Bates Motel

Edit
Despite popular belief, Anthony Perkins never boycotted the film. At a 1988 horror convention, Perkins stated that he had no involvement in the film and that he watched it when it originally aired. He called the film: "just terrible".
This film was originally planned as a 90-minute pilot for a possible television series, but due to low-ratings and lack of interest from an audience, producers shelved the idea. About 26 years later, a different "Bates Motel", also based on the "Psycho" intellectual property, would become a successful television series running for five seasons from 2013 to 2017.
The opening shot of the Psycho (1960) house was taken from the opening credits of Psycho II (1983).
Bud Cort called Anthony Perkins when he was cast as Alex West, seeking advice on how to prepare for the film. Perkins told him to get into shape by doing push-ups.
Kurt Paul (Norman Bates) previously served as Anthony Perkins' stunt double in Psycho II (1983) and Psycho III (1986). He later played Raymond Linette, another "mother killer" being interviewed on a talk show, in Psycho IV: The Beginning (1990). He is the only actor to appear in all of the "Psycho" sequels.
