The helicopter which delivers Ellie and Unit 0 to track down Kouji has the name "Rodger Young" stenciled across it. This is a reference to the troop transport Rodger Young in Robert Heinlein's novel "Starship Troopers", widely considered to be the definitive work on powered combat armor. (The movie Starship Troopers (1997) also features the Rodger Young, but Madox 01 predates that film by a decade.)
