    Common

Definitely this is not a brilliant movie. Actually it's nothing but a "deja vù" one. The story is common and the situations bring us nothing but will to stop watching this boring movie.

The casting is great. Antônio Fagundes is one of the best actors of Brazilian TV and theatre, but his acting here is not that good. Marieta Severo and Cláudia Jimenez, also two great stars in Brazil are funny in the film, just like Fagundes, but we have surely seen them in much better roles and performances. "O Corpo" is enjoyable if all you want is have fun together with friends and / or family. It is not really to be taken seriously.

    Triad a loving tragicomedy

Interesting film from early 90's, a moment with very little movie production in Brazil. It is a dark humor comedy of manners, or a tragicomedy, with with unrealistic cartoonish and almost fantastic traits and also elements of two main prior popular sub-genres from Brazil: light-hearted comedy Chanchadas and softcore comedy Pornochanchadas. The triad a loving story by Clarice Lispector portrays a sexist society in an absurd fictional example, what combines well with comedy genre despite the depressive elements that are usual in her literature. The tree main characters reaffirm that they all are happy in their life of intimacy, sex and gluttony, in which there is a true friendship and no jealousy between the two women. They are very different: while Marieta Severo's Carmem is slim, elegant, had a sharp mind and uses to write a lot, Cláudia Jimenez's Beatriz is fat, not very smart, wears tiny underwear, dances and is a good cook. Their husband, Antônio Fagundes's Xavier, owns a drugstore and has great appetites, both on bed and at the table, and is not a charming man at all. Why those three people share their lives is something that is not explained and makes little sense, but actually they do, and that has consequences. Both women think that they are happy, but as a matter of fact they do not have a meaningful life outside what concerns to their husband, and it becomes clearer for them when conflict appears. His appetite overcomes bigamy, and an affair with a bossy prostitute played by Carla Camurati starts. That breaks the routine-based harmony and nothing will be the same again. Well, nothing except for the complicity between the two opposite women. By the way, the end is nice.
