    Way of the Lady kingboxer

Inspector Li Tong (Sharon Cheung), investigating the smuggling operations of firearms into Hong Kong after a police raid, uncovers the truth that the gunrunners responsible are from mainland China. The Chinese government responds by sending their representative, Detective Chiang-hung (Sibelle Hu) to assist. While both ladies are reluctant to co-operate, due to Li-Tong being a hothead against the straight-laced Chiang-hung, soon they started working as a team as their investigations inadvertently results in both of them being sent to mainland China to confront the gunrunning gang in their headquarters.

In the vein of Yes, Madam, which features two contrasting female cops forced to work; Sibelle usually plays loudmouth characters but here she's subdued and wise, whereas Sharon Cheung is on Dirty Harry mode. Sure it's quite average, with the first half not so engaging, but it progressively gets better and is quite satisfying piece of action. The stunts and fights are very impressive. Carter Wong also stars.

    The same old stuff

One female Hong Kong cop teams up with a mainland China cop. Add two more male Hong Kong cops plus a white guy as one of the villains. The bad guys are the usual drug dealers. The action is martial arts and guns.

This genre of girls as top police officers who are beautiful, can fight, and shoot seems to have started about 1988 and by 1993 it was worn out and dead. If you can't get enough of this stuff then here's another one but it is no different or better than all the others.

Carter Wong returns to movies after about a ten year absence, He is still capable of expressing only surprise, his only acting ability, but he can still fight.
