There are sports dramas, and then there’s Friday Night Lights.
While All American and other series have explored the heightened drama that unfolds on the gridiron and in the locker room, no show in modern history has consistently done so with as much heart as Fnl.
ESPN columnist Bill Simmons once hailed it as “the greatest sports-related show ever made.” Many critics would add that the contest is not a particularly close one.

Now, Variety is reporting that Universal is developing a reboot of the beloved series, which ran from 2006-2011.
Surely some fans are excited about the prospect of returning to the world of Texas high school football.
But the prevailing mood at the moment is one of utter confusion.
And the question on the minds of many Fnl devotees is simply: Why?

Back before he became the hunky A-lister we all now know him as, Ben Affleck was playing the son of a small-town football coach on a short-lived television show, working alongside Blake Lively's sister. Wait...what? Yes, you heard that right. Affleck may have had an on-screen romance with Blake in their 2010 film The Town, but nearly 20 years before that, he played Robyn Lively's brother on the 1993 TV series Against the Grain. In fact, Blake's older sister took to Instagram to share the hilarious evidence. Sharing a photo with hand-drawn arrows to point out Affleck and herself, Robyn explained: "Before #BenAffleck was hookin up with my cracked out sis @blakelively in #thetown he...

While it's true that Ben Affleck is no stranger to mockery from the press, this time even I feel bad for the actor, because his past has come back to haunt him ... again. Now let's all go back to 1994, where a young actor by the name of Ben Affleck had scored a few roles (uncredited and otherwise) in teen flicks like School Ties and Buffy The Vampire Slayer. But it wasn't until he took on the role of the school bully O'Bannion in Richard Linklater's love letter to the '70s, Dazed and Confused, that his career was poised to take off. Unfortunately, there were some lean times after Dazed, and other than a few episodes on the football drama Against the Grain on NBC, the offers weren't exactly rolling in (and a guy's got to eat, right?). Well, thanks to the wonders of the Internet, we now get...
