The exteriors of the building that were used as the restaurant are located at 64 High Street in the Old Town in Hemel Hempstead. It was originally a florist. The building became a minor tourist attraction during the series. It now houses the business of a doll house maker since the series ended in 1997. A nearby restaurant at 80 High Street renamed itself "Pie in the Sky" to capitalize on the program's popularity. It later changed its name to Les Amants. As of this writing, the original building that was portrayed as Pie in The Sky is still a doll manufacture and in business. As of July 19, 2019 it's a Richard Brown Hair Salon on Google Maps.

Season 1-5 title openings show a library shelf with various cooking books mixed in with police training books. A hand pulls out a book and reveals the main character (DCI Henry Crabbe) looking back at him straight on, as if he is spying on him. This was slightly changed in seasons 2-5 with Crabbe showing a left profile and turning his head and staring out of the missing book slot.
The building in Hemel Hempstead that was used as Henry Crabbe's restaurant was a florist at the time of filming but has now become a restaurant named "Pie in the Sky" in real life.
The sign and awning of the "Pie In The Sky" restaurant has changed from season to season.
