Bloodstone: Subspecies II continues immediately where the first film left off, Radu's diminutive minions removing the stake from their master and reattaching his severed head. These opening few minutes are far better than anything in the original movie, the special effects being quite impressive, but I think they blew the budget on them because the rest of the film is relatively devoid of gore and the little demons are nowhere to be seen.
What follows is standard, shot-in-Romania Full Moon horror hokum, with Radu (Anders Hove) trying to get his mitts on the bloodstone, which has fallen into the hands of fledgling vampire Michelle (Denice Duff), who is struggling to come to terms with being undead; meanwhile, Michelle's concerned sister Becky (Melanie Shatner) tries to figure out what the hell is going on. It's an atmospheric film, with decent cinematography, and particularly good use of light and shadow, but the plot is fairly mediocre straight-to-video vampire guff.
5.5/10, rounded up to 6 for Radu's very ugly mother and gratuitous nudity from Duff in the obligatory shower scene.
