Demi Moore, Woody Harrelson, and Robert Redford in Indecent Proposal (1993)

Goofs

Indecent Proposal

Edit

Continuity

In the beginning, Diana and David are arguing in the kitchen. Diana throws underwear, missed Woody, but it lands on the burning gas stove, next to a tea kettle. Following the argument a few seconds later, there is no underwear on the stove. The argument stops, and the underwear is back there, smoking.
When seen from behind, there is no message on the back of the photo. When David turns it around, the message appears.
Rain disappears quickly at the end when Diana gets out of Gage's car.
David has shaved the right side of his face removing the shaving cream, but when he comforts Diana, he still has the shaving cream all over his face.
When playing pool, the cue ball is pocketed, but they continue playing.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

Diana is a Realtor, which means she hangs a state license under a broker, but works for herself. Gage showing up at her brokerage asking to see high-end properties is factually inaccurate.

Even though, Realtors work for themselves, she told Gage she has a "boss" because she was using this as an excuse to turn him down.
The film doesn't take into account the taxes David and Diana must pay for the million dollars because it would only complicate the story. IMDb Guidelines cover this under "Artistic License".
When Diana won John Gage a million dollars from the craps table game, she should have asked John for a percentage to pay off their debts.

IMDb Guidelines state "no personal opinions and no criticism of characters' actions."
After David and Diana won so much money playing craps, it's unlikely they would have switched to roulette the next day.

IMDb Guidelines state "no personal opinions and no criticism of characters' actions."
(at around 10 mins) David says (on voice over) that he borrowed $5000 from his father, but it wasn't enough", yet they could afford to go to Las Vegas and play the slots.

People often do things (even extremely inadvisable things) they cannot afford.

Revealing mistakes

The 'coffee' David pours himself from the espresso maker is water.

Crew or equipment visible

When David uses a Gryphon match to light the stove, the camera and two crew members are reflected in the kettle.
Yellow device used to make David's dog lick his face is visible.

Errors in geography

The helicopter that Gage and Diana take off in is supposed to be at the Las Vegas Hilton, but the Lady Luck Casino is seen next door from where the helicopter leaves. The Lady Luck is downtown Las Vegas, nowhere near the Hilton.

Boom mic visible

In their kitchen, when they are fighting, the scene switches from him to her and back to him. When back to him, the overhead mic is visible.

Character error

When bidding at the auction, David offers "1 million dollars" for the hippopotamus. This is not possible; as his lawyer stated earlier, the fee he would receive for the proposal would have been deducted from the million David received for the proposal. Therefore, David didn't have 1 million dollars to bid.
