The title is a pun on "Der kleine Hey", a standard book on
vocal training for actors, written by Julius Hey (1832-
1909). "Kleine Haie" also means "little sharks".
Kai Wiesinger and Heinrich Schafmeister, who have a short scene together in 'Kleine Haie', would later perform in the movie The Harmonists (1997) together, both playing members of this famous a Capella group. 'Kleine Haie' opens with a Comedian Harmonists-song.
The applicants for the acting schools in Essen and Munich
can be seen performing parts from "Woyzeck" ('Georg
Büchner'), "Die Räuber" (Friedrich Schiller), "Mistero
Buffo" (Dario Fo), "The Glass Menagerie" and "A Streetcar
Named Desire" (both Tennessee Williams), "Hamlet" and
"Macbeth" (both William Shakespeare).
