When I stumbled upon the 1993 romantic comedy "Mother of the Bride" and seeing that the movie had Rue McClanahan starring in it, of course I had to watch the movie. Sure, I had never even heard about the movie, but I do enjoy watching movies for the first time.
Writer Bart Baker put together a fair enough script. It certainly was a watchable movie, and a somewhat entertaining one too, though it was campy and cheesy, not to mention somewhat generic. But don't get me wrong here, because the movie still was entertaining.
The movie does have an impressive cast ensemble, with the likes of Rue McClanahan, Kristy McNichol, Paul Dooley, Brett Cullen, Nan Martin, Jeff Yagher and Ted Shackelford. So yeah, there definitely were some familiar faces on the cast list. And the acting performances in the movie were good.
Watchable for what it was, sure, but "Mother of the Gym" was hardly an outstanding or memorable moment in cinematic history. In fact, I doubt I will ever sit down to watch it a second time.
My rating of "Mother of the Bride" lands on a five out of ten stars.
