James Corden and Julia Roberts reenacted scenes from Roberts' wide-ranging filmography on Wednesday, calling up brief, famous scenes from Notting Hill, Pretty Woman, Erin Brockovich and more on The Late Late Show. Roberts stopped by to promote her upcoming movie, Wonder.
Corden got to play most of the famous leading men in the last thirty years of Hollywood blockbusters – he filled in for a mopey Hugh Grant in Notting Hill, a bathing Tom Hanks in Charlie Wilson's War and an aloof Jude Law in Closer.

Julia Roberts is just a girl, standing in front of James Corden, asking him to act out her movies with her. The 49-year-old Oscar winner recreated some of her top films during a clip, which aired on Wednesday's The Late Late Show.
Starting out with her iconic line from Notting Hill, she went on to act out scenes from Runaway Bride, Steel Magnolias, Charlie Wilson’s War, Mystic Pizza, Pretty Woman, Hook, Erin Brockovich, The Pelican Brief, and Sleeping With the Enemy.
When it came time to act out Oceans 11 and 12, Corden stepped out in an interesting outfit.
“What are you doing?” Roberts asked him.
“I’m being George Clooney! I’ve got coffee, tequila, a couple of these,” he said, knocking together some twin baby dolls.

That was truly unexpected.
I would never have guessed This Is Us Season 1 Episode 10 would deliver the most intense hour we'd seen to date.
After all, it was our first Christmas with the Pearson family. Surely we were in for some sweet memories, right? Wrong! Although we learned "nothing bad ever happens on Christmas Eve," even that may be coming to an end this year.
View Slideshow: This Is Us Photos from "Last Christmas"
This one was even delivered to us a little differently, with our venture into the past coming at the beginning and right at the very end of the hour.
The year was 1989, and although that particular Christmas Eve featured a trip to the emergency room so Kate could have her appendix removed, the focus was more on Randall than Kate, as Dr. K. was also admitted for wrapping his LeSabre around a tree.

Following their success on "Searching for Sugar Man," Universal Music Group and Passion Pictures are re-teaming to produce a documentary feature about the life of Inxs lead singer Michael Hutchence.
Hutchence's friend and filmmaker Richard Lowenstein ("He Died with a Felafel in His Hand," "Say a Little Prayer") will direct. Lowenstein has reportedly been "working on the definitive documentary film journey into the heart and soul of this complex, shy, poetic and exceptionally charismatic man for many years."
Lowenstein is deeply familiar with the material, directing the majority of Hutchence and Inxs's music videos along with the singer's only lead role in a film - 1986's "Dogs in Space". Hutchence's daughter Tiger Lily will be a beneficiary of the film's proceeds.

Say a little prayer, "My Best Friend's Wedding" fans - the beloved 1997 romcom might be getting a TV sequel.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, ABC is developing a half-hour, single-camera comedy based on the popular movie starring Julia Roberts. The show would pick up where the movie left off: Julianne Potter returning home to New York with gay Bff George (Rupert Everett in the film) as her supportive guide. The original movie's writer, Ron Bass, will pen the script.
"My Best Friend's Wedding" is just the latest Hollywood property to get a reboot/prequel/sequel. This season, ABC brought "The Muppets" back to primetime, and the network is also working on a "Fantasy Island" remake. Fox is bringing back "The X-Files" and "Prison Break" this winter. And there are reboots of Nancy Drew, "MacGyver," "Training Day," and "Little Women" in the works elsewhere.

Candice saved the best for last with her amazing performance on the April 10 episode of ‘American Idol’ — Mariah literally showered her in glitter. Has the winner been revealed? Watch her performance below!
The top six sang songs they wish they had written as Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson had mixed reviews throughout the night. So who will go home tomorrow? Tell us below.
The Top Six Sing Songs Written by Burt Bacharach
Angie Miller started off the night with “Anyone Who Had Heart.” “This one to me overall felt old fashioned,” Nicki said. Keith said it sounded like she wasn’t that passionate about the song.
Amber Holcolm (who likes to eat frozen shrimp…) sang “I Say A Little Prayer For You.” Nicki was screaming: “I am bowing down for you right now little girl! You are unbelievable! You are everything! You just became my favorite girl in this competition!

Here we are fans -- maybe the most talented Top 5 "American Idol" has ever seen ... and Lazaro Arbos. Who is voting for him? Are they deaf? We honestly don't even know anymore.
Tonight's theme is Burt Bacharach/Hal David for round one and Songs the Contestants Wish They Had Written (which ... Ok). So for round one, we're definitely in for a lot of slow songs.
1. Angie Miller, "Anyone Who Had a Heart"
Good choice for her, though with Bacharach songs, we're disappointed she's not at the piano. And while she sounds really nice, vocally, we wish there was a little more emotion behind it, a little more oomph. She seems ... hmmm. She seems passionate about singing, but not necessarily the words behind the song? Does that make sense? Still a nice vocal.
Keith asks her not to rely on her good voice alone and wants more passion from her emotionally,...

He’d miraculously memorized the words to the Carpenters’ “(They Long To Be) Close To You,” but enunciated horribly, sang off-pitch, and couldn’t keep up with key changes. Randy Jackson, surprisingly not won over by Lazaro’s extremely loud jacket, suggested this had been the worst performance on Idol ever.
Robbie Williams’ “Angels” was slightly better, but the judges strained to find something to say.

To hear executive producer Jim Patterson tell it, the highly publicized incident that might’ve done in Two and a Half Men last year actually might’ve been a blessing wrapped in a bowling shirt.
“The 10th year of a show, you’re looking at 225 episodes,” he says. “Obviously, the more episodes you do, the more of a struggle it is to go, ‘All right, what’s a new idea? What’s something fresh we can do with a character?’”

Lyricist behind some of the greatest pop hits of the 20th century
By contrast with his songwriter partner Burt Bacharach, whose suavely youthful looks belonged in a 1960s Martini ad, the lyricist Hal David, who has died at the age of 91, resembled a president of a suburban Rotary Club: a conservative, suit-and-tie figure from an earlier generation, modest and unassuming in conversation. But it was David's words as much as Bacharach's melodies that captured an audience for such songs as Anyone Who Had a Heart, I Say a Little Prayer, Walk on By, (There's) Always Something There to Remind Me, Alfie, Trains and Boats and Planes, (They Long to Be) Close to You, Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head and Do You Know the Way to San Jose?
Their period of greatest productivity, between 1962 and 1968, coincided with the heyday of their partnership with Dionne Warwick, the gospel-trained singer who gave voice to their finest collaborations.

Los Angeles — Hal David, the stylish, heartfelt lyricist who teamed with Burt Bacharach on dozens of timeless songs for movies, television and a variety of recording artists in the 1960s and beyond, has died. He was 91.
David died of complications from a stroke Saturday morning at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, according to his wife Eunice David.
He had suffered a major stroke in March and was stricken again on Tuesday, she said.
"Even at the end, Hal always had a song in his head," Eunice David said. "He was always writing notes, or asking me to take a note down, so he wouldn't forget a lyric."
Bacharach and David were among the most successful teams in modern history, with top 40 hits including "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head," "(They Long to Be) Close to You" and "That's What Friends Are For." Although most associated with Dionne Warwick, their...

I hate when legends pass away, and yesterday delivered us a toughy: Ernest Borgnine, who won the Best Actor Oscar for 1955's Marty (delivered by Miss Grace Kelly!) and charmed us on McHale's Navy, died at 95. Now the oldest living Best Actor is the noble and towering Sidney Poitier, who was born over 10 years after Borgnine. While our octagenarian Oscar winners deserve the utmost reverence, there's something downright superhuman about the nonagenarian awardees, if I do say so myself. Today, in honor of Borgnine, we're toasting five such winners who are alive, kicking, and ruling. Just start applauding now and don't stop until the end of the post.

Dionne Warwick has revealed that she spoke to her cousin Whitney Houston just before she died. The 71-year-old singer, who is best known for her hit songs 'Walk on By' and 'I Say a Little Prayer', said that Houston was "happy" and "ready" for a comeback just before she passed away in the bathroom of her hotel room on the night of Clive Davis's pre-Grammys party last month. Warwick told Good Morning America: "I spoke to Whitney the day that she passed. I spoke to her that morning. She said, 'You're here, aren't you? You're coming to the party, aren't you?' "I said, 'Yeah, I'm going to be there', and she said, 'Thank you, I want you to be here. You've got to be here for me'. I spoke to her that afternoon and that was it." Referring to Houston (more)...

Liz Markus: The Look of Love Zieher Smith Through March 17, 2012
Color, like scent, is one of the most powerful triggers of memory. The smell of cinnamon or nutmeg brings us back to our childhood kitchens, sweetly reminiscent, like something Mother used to bake. Or a signature perfume reminds us of a first fuck. Liz Markus uses color to tap into our collective memories, evoking the hues of time -- period colors: Seventies Polaroids, Eighties adverts, and the lurid tints of souvenir postcards. In the past her work used color as a weapon -- a blunt, punk-rockers attempt at identity. The paintings in The Look of Love show Markus all grown up, referencing a complex history of Modernism and Color Field painting.

A gospel brunch on the 28th floor of the Millbank Tower on London’s South Bank was something I approached with equal parts trepidation, cynicism and anxious excitement. Most thrilling to me was the opportunity to see London from a great height whilst enjoying some good food and drink, but, to be honest, I wasn’t sure how I’d fare with the gospel music. I guess, to be honest, it’s because this was a Sunday and I was having flashbacks to my childhood and my Church of England schooling. In contrast to that, however, I have always enjoyed the sound and soul of gospel music and it is a world removed from the drab hymns of my youth, so I don’t know why I was a tad tentative going into this.

I’ve said since the third episode of Glee’s first season that the show’s weakest quality was the filler in between the songs. The writing is embarrassingly inconsistent in tone, the characters are prone to erratic shifts in emotion and motivation, and from one week to the next the show’s threads never really connected. The music though, the music was pretty damn good. The song choices, the mash-ups, and the new arrangements on old classics were and remain little nuggets of gold that the Glee fan has to dig out of each episode. Well stop sifting. Glee Encore singles out the big musical numbers and lets you play them back to back, shuffled, or on an individual basis. It's like the "Glee Jukebox" feature on later Glee season releases but it has them all on one disc, not separated across 3 or 4. From here on out, every season...

Oh yes, the Church of England has released a prayer, requesting his almighty to “deepen [Kate and Prince William’s] love and strengthen their wills to keep the promises they will make, that they may continue in life-long faithfulness to each other.” Why ask your friends and family for a little extra support when you can go straight to the top?...

The Best Screencap Ever (thx Ontd) Season 4 of Donald’s Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice is only a few episodes in, and it’s already one of the most cringe-worthy Wtf parades on network television. Some of the cast members are really delivering on their personality promise: Nene Leakes is Queen of Face, Jose Canseco is a coked-up Natural History Museum exhibit, and Gary Busey eats babies for breakfast. But there have also been some surprises. Say what you will about Star Jones, but she’s one of the most competent players in the game right now. Same goes for Marlee Matlin, whose no bullsh*t approach to the tasks has been a refreshing change of idiot celebrity pace. (Don’t get me started on her Asl interpreter, who I feel very attached to.) And what about that Lil Jon???? Forgetting that time he was CGI’d into The Phantom Menace,...

Roger Ebert has a very particular method of reviewing films: using a four-star rating system, he judges movies on how they merit given the context of their particular genre. For example, within his system, American Pie is given the same rating as The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring, as they both succeed within their genres equally.
It occurs to me that many people will see Priscilla: Queen of the Desert and decide that it's too shallow, too showy, and has far too much confetti for them to enjoy it. But to view the show this way is to miss the ride, no pun intended, and perhaps some attention should be paid to Ebert's method of critiquing a work. Priscilla exists simultaneously as an exuberant musical as well as a send-up of the structure, much in the way real drag queens both idolize and mock the female...

She may not be recognized as one of the powerhouse voices of Glee, or the one who took home the Golden Globe, but the lovely Dianna Agron has captured the attention of Hollywood executives. Her supporting role in last year’s underrated The Romantics, plus a blip on the radar part in Burlesque, Agron has now stepped into the female lead role, opposite her real-life boyfriend Alex Pettyfer, in I Am Number Four.
In many ways, this film is a departure for Agron. Produced by Michael Bay, I Am Number Four is full of the requisite aliens and blow-‘em-up action expected to be found in a Bay film. Agron plays Sarah, a girl who falls in love with John, who just happens to be an alien. Her real-life romance with co-star Pettyfer is a subject she prefers remain private, but when it comes to Glee, Agron is happy to talk freely.

Aretha Franklin is being cared for by a private nurse after being discharged from hospital. The legendary singer was allowed home earlier this week after undergoing "highly successful" surgery for pancreatic cancer and she has revealed she has a strong support system at her house to assist her in her recovery.
"I've been at home for almost three days now," she said in a statement. "My family and friends who brought me home are taking great care of me. I also have a private nurse who visits on a daily basis."
Aretha's representative also has said the 68-year-old star, who was initially told she had less than a year to live after being diagnosed with the disease, which has a survival rate of just five to 10%, is in "great spirits" and looking forward to spending time with her family over Christmas. So there is this crazy show where high school students randomly break into choreographed song and dance. They sing studio-perfect numbers accompanied by outrageous set pieces (snow, rainstorms, entire chorus lines of tuxedoed backup dancers). They say sassy things and silly things and sometimes even sweet things.
And, until recently, they had a little something for everyone – the outcasts, the jocks, the gays, the lesbians, the bisexuals, the misanthropic. But with the evolution and current devolution of Brittana happening before our eyes, I have to wonder: What is in Glee for gay women anymore?
Fans of the Brittany S. Pierce and Santana Lopez coupling have watched gleefully as the twosome went from simple background dancers to ponytail twirling besties to friends with scissoring benefits. The pairing has delighted us with the little moments – a pinky hold here, a head rest there. What started being played for laughs – mean girl Santana...
