Melissa Gilbert (Kate) and Cicely Tison (Carrie) previously co-starred in House of Secrets in 1993
In her 2009 memoir A Prairie Tale, Melissa Gilbert stated that Cicely Tyson was very difficult to work with on this series. She said Cicely was not a team player, would come into the trailer in the mornings where others were chatting friendly, drinking coffee and listening to music ordering that everyone keep quiet while she had her makeup done, dump the coffee as she didn't like the smell and turn off the music. She claims Cicely one time slapped a director across the face, and another time kept everyone waiting because she didn't like the bra she was wearing and wanted another one found for her. She insisted on everyone calling her by her character's name, although she couldn't remember the character names of any of her cast-mates. She also insisted on hiring someone to work in the wardrobe department who ended up causing Melissa to have an accident. Melissa finally demanded to the producers that enough was enough, and to give Cicely her own trailer to keep peace on the set away from the others.
