Tom Arnold and Alison La Placa in Tom (1994)

Trivia

Tom

Edit
Tom Arnold's second failed sitcom, produced by wife Roseanne Arnold, after "The Jackie Thomas Show." Tom would soon find fame on the big screen, however, in "True Lies." When Roseanne, then divorced from Arnold, was asked about Tom's newfound fame, she replied: "I'm not surprised. I developed it." Tom also played a semi-regular on Roseanne.
Alison La Placa also co-starred in Tom's first failed sitcom produced by Roseanne Arnold, "The Jackie Thomas Show." Arnold talked her into this role (as his wife this time) when "Thomas" was canceled, just as she was about to sign onto another show.
Chris Farley, who played Tom Arnold in skits for SNL, appears in one episode.
When "The Jackie Thomas Show", produced by ABC alongside "Roseanne", was canceled, he compared his next sitcom moving to CBS to David Letterman's move to the network.
Tom Arnold's first sitcom "The Jackie Thomas Show" was far different from the working-class setting of "Roseanne", which this show, "Tom", is much closer to, being about a blue-collar worker as opposed to a fictionalized sitcom star, and also using the actual first name of the star for the character and the title, like "Roseanne."
