Patrick McGoohan was concerned that he might be over-acting in the role of George Bernard Shaw, and sought advice from his co-stars, both of whom had known the real man well. Sir John Gielgud told him not to worry because "Shaw always over-articulated".
Patrick McGoohan replaced Ray McAnally in the role of George Bernard Shaw.
Patrick McGoohan previously appeared in writer Hugh Whitemore's play Pack of Lies on Broadway in 1985. It was Whitemore who suggested McGoohan after the death of Ray McAnally who originated the role on stage.
