Captain America (1990)

Trivia

Captain America

Edit
In an interview with the publication Retro Junk, co-star Ronny Cox said this movie "...remains to this day the finest script I have ever read... how those guys messed that film up, I will never know".
Before this movie was introduced, Stan Lee wrote, "Director Albert Pyun did it so well and so excitingly that everyone in the audience [at the screening] kept clamoring for more," to account for the film being scheduled for a re-shoot.
Dolph Lundgren and Arnold Schwarzenegger were up for the role of Captain America. Schwarzenegger's accent lost him the role. Lundgren was busy filming The Punisher (1989), about another Marvel Comics character.
In July 2011, to coincide with the release of Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), Albert Pyun toured the country with his director's cut of this film. The big difference is that it focuses more on character and less on action. It runs about 14 minutes longer than the 1992 release version and there are a number of scenes showing Steve Rogers coming to the realization that he was always a super hero within and he wasn't just a hero because of the serum. Screenings of his director's cut in Las Vegas and Austin sold out--600 to 700 people with huge lines outside at midnight shows.
The original mask had holes that allowed Matt Salinger's ears to poke through. It caused uncomfortable chafing, so plastic ears were used.
