This was the only time that David Bowie and members of Queen performed "Under Pressure" together live. Queen would always perform the song on their own while on tour, despite having recorded it with Bowie in 1981.

This concert marked the last time that David Bowie and his glam rock era guitarist Mick Ronson were on stage together. A year later to the day, Ronson died of cancer.

Brian May apologized to Fish, the former lead singer of rock band Marillion, after he was left off the bill despite desperately wanting to be a part of it due to his huge admiration for Mercury as a performer and friendship with him from the time Marillion supported Queen on the Magic Tour in 1986. Fish told fans there had been pressures from outside the band to put acts on the bill who did not necessarily have a personal connection to Queen but were bigger names at the time. Fish said the song he would have performed was "Liar", a track from the first Queen album.

This is John Deacon's final full-length concert appearance. He played with Queen again for one song in 1997, and recorded the single "No One But You" with them later that year, but then retired from the group.

There was criticism from gay rights campaigners about the involvement of Guns N' Roses due to their homophobic lyrics, especially considering Mercury had contracted HIV from gay sex.
