Harrison Ford in Sabrina (1995)

FAQ

Sabrina

FAQ

Sabrina is a remake of Sabrina (1954) (1954), which was based on a play, Sabrina Fair, a Woman of the World by American playwright Samuel A. Taylor [1912-2000]. Taylor, along with director Billy Wilder and screenwriter Ernest Lehman, adapted the play for the 1954 movie. Their screenplay was adapted for this movie by Barbara Benedek and David Rayfiel,

The basic story line of the 1995 Sabrina is the same as the 1954 film. A few changes have been made to details that don't necessarily affect the story. For example, Sabrina (Julia Ormond) goes to Paris to intern with Vogue magazine, not to study cooking. She returns to Paris on a jet, followed by Linus Larrabee (Harrison Ford) on a Concorde instead of their meeting on a boat. In the remake, Sabrina's father (John Wood) has a girlfriend. David Larrabee (Greg Kinnear) sits on wine glasses, as in the original, but he recovers in his bed as opposed to being harnessed in an amusing plastic butt sling. David's fiance Elizabeth (Lauren Holly) is a successful pediatrician, not just the daughter of a rich tycoon. Probably the biggest difference is that Julia Ormond plays Sabrina as a more serious, mature character as opposed to the waiflike naiveté of the 1954 Sabrina as played by Audrey Hepburn.
