I think this is one of Anil Kapoor's best performance till date. On television it was difficult to fast forward only to his scenes, but thanks to Netflix and ability to watch movies online you can. His looks, perfect background score when he is on screen and excellent dialogue delivery.
Trimurti is nearly 3 hours long....don't know if anyone will be patient enough to sit through it.
Story is about 3 brothers who get separated from their parents due to bad circumstances created by an evil tantrik, and how they soon come together to fight evil.
The good - locales where the film is shot, some action sequences, some dialogues, the songs, few comedy scenes,Anil Kapoor is no doubt the best actor in the film, followed by Jackie Shroff.
The bad - lot of overacting, especially by Shahrukh khan. I think he was not even needed in the film. Also the film is too long, editing is weak at some places, some stuff is unbelievable.
This film is watchable but it could not have run.

Trimurti was much hyped before its release as it had two successful directors coming together and an all star cast. Subhash Ghai was on a winning streak after one hit film after another in the 1980s such as Vidhata, Meri Jung, Karma, Ram Lakhan, Saudagar and Khalnayak. This time he decided to produce Trimurti and have visionary director Mukul Anand directing the film.
Next was the star cast Subhash Ghai had assembled to play the three brothers of the title. He started with his favourite Jackie Shroff, rising star Shahrukh Khan and finally Sanjay Dutt. Unfortunately during filming, Sanjay was given a prison sentence and despite filming most of his scenes except the climax, he was replaced by Ghai's other favourite Anil Kapoor. The villain was played by Mohan Agashe and supporting roles played by Priya Tendulkar, Saeed Jaffrey, Tinnu Anand, Anjali Jathar and Gauthami.
After finally hitting theatres, Trimurti turned out to be a colossal disappointment and bombed at the box office. Critics and audiences were so disappointed by how the film turned out and labelled it the worst film for every actor who was involved in it.
I finally got to see the film in full recently after seeing bits and pieces of it previously whenever it aired on television. My final verdict is the film is nowhere near the disaster that it is made out to be. It definitely has a lot of flaws specifically the weak script and the over the top hammy acting. It can be moderately entertaining thanks to the performances of Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor who are the positive aspects of the film. The duo are always excellent whenever they are paired together like in Ghai's previous hits "Karma" and "Ram Lakhan."
The first half of the film moves at a very slow pace and only livens up with a few funny scenes with SRK. Anil Kapoor steals the film with his performance in the second half after the interval and livens up the rest of the film. Priya Tendulkar and Saeed Jaffrey lend good support in their roles. Gauthami and Anjali Jathar don't have much to do. There are two good songs in the film "Very Good Very Bad" and "Pyar Karo Mujhe Pyar Karo."
The weak aspects are unfortunately Shahrukh Khan and Mohan Agashe. Shahrukh's character is written to be very childish and naive and his over the top performance irritates. His romance with Anjali Jathar is written weakly and there is a lack of chemistry between them. There are a few comedy scenes involving SRK dressed in drag and he has good chemistry with Shroff and Kapoor. It is however his over the top performance that brings the film down. Mohan Agashe is one of the most over the top villains ever seen in Bollywood. Definitely not a scary villain, he is more like a cartoon villain brought to life.
Direction by Mukul Anand is weak although it is probably not entirely his fault as he was directing from a weak script written by Subhash Ghai. Mukul was capable of so much more as evident by his brilliant films like Khuda Gawah, Hum and Sultanat to name a few. Unfortunately this would be his final film as he died during the making of "Dus" which could have been the comeback film for him after the failure of this film. Its like both Ghai and Anand's heart was really not in this film while it was being made. Otherwise this could have been an epic blockbuster like their previous works.
Overall Trimurti is just about an average film worth watching for Anil Kapoor in particular. Considering the talent involved in the making of this film, it could have been so much more.

This film is among the worst movies ever made in India. Simply shamed to see crap movie with 3 top actors (Jackie Shroff,Anil Kapoor and Shahrukh Khan) with most successful producer (Ghais) and one of most talented directors late Mukul Anand (Hum and Agneepath fame) Direction - awful (He has forgotten to say cut to scenes in this film and that's why many behind the scene things can be seen) Acting - Priya Tendulkar did her part well, lead actors will lament themselves for acting in this junk, actresses were totally unnecessary. Mohan Agashe tried to be menacing as great villain Amrish Puri but failed badly Songs - OK In and all a must avoid movie at all cost.

"Trimurti" along with movies like "Razia Sultan", "Vijay" and "Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja" have been regarded the most wash-out productions from the biggest film makers ever. Despite the great hype shown, they were among the biggest flops of all time. After watching "Trimurti" I got this feeling that it isn't that horrible film like what most of the people said about it. But I would call it a wasted effort in terms of direction, performances, and production values. The reason is obvious, the predictable storyline and its immature presentation.
The story is on three brothers and their mother who get separated and their vengeance with the villain. Perhaps this story has been repeated umpteenth of times in Indian Movies. Making an analogy with one of the songs from the same movie "Very Good Very Bad," the very bad thing of the film is the most important thing the story itself. And the good things are good performances from Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Saeed Jaffrey and Priya Tendulkar. Shahrukh Khan does an overacting and is unbearable most of the times. Though Mukul Anand was the director of the film, the taste of Subash Ghai's direction appears all the way in terms of photography. Besides the fabulous locations, good sets can be seen in the choreography of few songs. Overall, some good performances and direction got lost in this failed giant which isn't better than a B grade movie in its story telling, and it runs for an inordinate length.

The only reason I wanted to see this movie was because I remembered one of the songs, it was very catchy. "Upper vahle very good very good, nieche vahel very bad very bad" that was good stuff. But the the rest of the movie was done terribly. The scenes did not flow well at all, and the majority of the dialogue was repetitive. For instance, how many times must you say Trimutri in the movie, or how many times do you have to say Trimutri will attack by water, land and Heaven. The director apparently thought his audience was a bunch of dummies who couldn't put 2 and 2 together. Jackie Schoff and Anil Kapoor's presence was the only thing this movie had going for it. Sharukh Khan had not developed into the actor he is now. All in all I would not recommend this movie, if you are looking for a solid movie, with continuity and great dialgoue, stay away form this one.

Below average Bollywood film with same old cliched plot, some over the top acting and messy direction and editing. Film bears signs of tinkering. Khan disappoints while Anil Kapoor acquits himself well.

This was the most overhyped movie of 1995. However the end product was the same of the heroes seeking revenge for their father's death and to fulfil the wish of their mother to destroy the villain. Everything was loud and bombastic. I regret watching this in Theatre and ruining one perfectly good December vacation day.

This movie might not be considered the best by people looking for some serious storyline or OTT direction or editing. But, if you love watching a nice Bollywood movie with some great music and some great dialogue lines, this movie is a must watch.
Trimurti was a movie that a lot of people were dying to see when it was first advertised. It had a good director and producer Subash Ghai and Mukul Anand. Above that it had a great star cast of Anil, Shahrukh and Jackie in one film. No disrespect to any of the heroines in the films, but i don't know who they are. The movie should of had at least one famous face actress. Madhuri Dixit, Kajol or Juhi. Even low key actresses at the time like Mamta and Shilpa Shirodkar would of been a better choice. The villain did a good job in this film although I would of preferred someone famous like Amrish Puri or Kader Khan. Originally Sanjay Dutt was suppose to be in this film as the Gangster brother, but he was in prison. It would of been better if it starred Anil Kapoor, Shahrukh Khan and Sanjay Dutt as the three brothers. No offence to Jackie Shroff who is a good actor, but the other three are brilliant actors. Anil Kapoor gave a good performance and he was the best out of the three in my opinion. Jackie Shroff was quite boring in this film and therefore i didn't like him. Shahrukh Khan who performed in Baazigar, Darr, Anjaam, DDLJ before this film released acted so amateurish. Its hard to believe, Im a big Shahrukh khan fan, but Shahrukh Khan didn't give a great performance in this film as he always does. He didn't quite suit the character. Anyway this is still a decent watch.
Mata Mata Banda Mata Song is very good. Shahrukh Khan dialogue and shayri at start is very funny.
Anil Kapoor Kirdar is also good.
Overall it is a very good movie. Bikta hai sona mitti ke mol song is very good and littlt bit funny.
'Mujhe darde dil ki dawa chahiye' gaane ke chakar main puri movie dekhli 😂Shahrukh Khan irritated me in that movie, even though he's one of my favourite actors.
One of the best entry/introductory scenes in the history of hindi cinema at 1:28. With all due respect to Jackie and SRK (I didn't really like SRK in his young non villain role days - too much overacting and hamming), Anil Kapoor was heads and Shoulders above everyone for which he steals the show incredibly. One of his best career performance arguably.

"Trimurti"had the merit of getting a successful producer and an extremely talented director working on the same film.Although it was reportedly less up to the expectations of the masses IT was a "melange des genres" film which had greater appeal for an Indiana Jones western public. The film like most Mukul Anand Films is technically far ahead of its times as regards indian mainstrem cinema. The story of two brothers with different ways of being and living, their love for their younger brother symbolises the forces of materialism versus idealism. Above all the majestic portrayal of good against evil epitomised by the fight of the mother against the monstrous KOOKA and the destruction of the latter in this tale of tantric destiny makes this film a compelling must for all Mukul Anand film fans
