FAQ

Loving You

Yes. Hong Kong Police Inspector Chan See Kay joined the police force in 1983, and has worked his way up to earn the rank of Inspector in 4 years.

In April, 1992 he was shot at close range during an operation. The ballistic point of entry was the forehead between the eyebrows. The bullet penetrated the Paranasal sinus and tongue before exiting the lower jaw. He survived but suffered from a lot of side effects and the loss of his senses from the gunshot wounds. However, this tragic incident didn't stop him from carrying on his duties. He solved several big cases in 1993, 1997, and 1999. He received a nickname "Wu wei shen tan", which literally means "Great officer with loss of sense of taste and smell" or "Tasteless Inspector" in short.

Inspector Chan filed a $2.2M lawsuit against the Police Department for compensation of his injuries, and in March, 2006, almost 14 years after the incident, he received a settlement. The High Court has ordered the Police Department to pay him HK$1.45M (approximately $186,000 dollars).
