The Quiet Room (1996)

Quotes

The Quiet Room

Edit
  • [first lines]
  • Girl Age 7: Hey diddle diddle, the cow did a piddle behind the kitchen door. The little dog laughed to see such fun, so the cat did a little bit more.
  • Girl Age 7: People kiss, and they have lots of problems. Except kids don't kiss, but they still have problems too.
  • Girl Age 7: Barbies. Barbies are weird. Why do they make Barbies of teenagers if they're for little kids?
  • Girl Age 7: I wonder why adults don't have any imagination.
  • Girl Age 7: What are you supposed to do with adults who act like kids?
  • Girl Age 7: My bed. I want us always to be together. So why do *I* have a bed? *We* should have a bed. A family bed. Then we can all sleep happily ever after.
  • [dozes off in mother's arms]
  • Girl Age 7: [to herself] Why am I alone all the time?
  • [last lines]
  • Girl Age 7: [moving day] My room is all empty, and so is my head.
  • Girl Age 7: Why do they have so many buildlings in the city any way? No room for dogs, and they have to poo all over the footpath and make a mess, and then people hate dogs, and I can't have one. Doesn't make sense.
