Arcane (titled onscreen as Arcane: League of Legends) is an adult animated steampunk action-adventure television series created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee. It was produced by the French animation studio Fortiche under the supervision of Riot Games, and distributed by Netflix. Set in Riot's League of Legends universe, the series primarily follows two sisters, Vi and Jinx. Amid the stark discord of twin cities Piltover and Zaun, two sisters fight on rival sides of a war between magic technologies and clashing convictions. The Netflix series was an immediate success, as Arcane surged up the streaming ranks. The first season of Arcane arrived with a bang, and was the first streaming series to win a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program in 2022, as well as an Annie Award for Best General Audience Animated Television Broadcast Production. In 2021, Arcane was Netflix’s #1 TV show across 52 countries across the globe.
