I don’t fancy myself much of an iOS or Android gamer, but when games that could easily hold their own on other platforms start finding their way to phones, my ears perk up. Fittingly, Sega has just announced that it will be bringing four new titles to mobile platforms in the coming months, with three of them arriving in time for the holidays or sooner.
You can check out the press release below for all the details, but what will most likely jump out at people the most are the two planned Sonic the Hedgehog releases. The first is called Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, a kart racer promising land, sea, and air traversal ala Diddy Kong Racing, in addition to a host of playable characters from Sega’s substantial cast. Oh, and the karts can transform, hence Racing Transformed. Hopefully Sonic will scream “transfoooooorm!!” like the Lumas from Super...

Amazon's Gold Box deals are always worth checking out and the one going on right now is no different. Not only can gamers pick a copy of "Assassin's Creed III" at a 45% discount, but the savings keep going with multiple Lightning Deals throughout the day.
The "Assassin's Creed III" deal is only for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but will be available all day long. If you've been debating whether or not you want to pick it up, now's probably a good time to do so considering "The Tyranny of King Washington" Dlc is on it's way and Amazon is throwing in a $3 Amazon Instant Video Credit, $3 Digital Games Credit, and $3 Trade-in Credit.
As far as Lightning deals go, Turtle Beach headsets, Nfs Most Wanted, Rhythm Thief, Episodes from Liberty City and Tera have all been scooped up. However, Dishonored is going for $29.99 at the time of writing this and several more deals are on the way.

With less than a month until Cybertron falls on the 360 and PS3, developer High Moon Studios and publisher Activision have provided a quick glimpse of the new game's multiplayer mode.
And if that video's not enough, we've got screenshots after the jump.
It's weird to think we're in a period where it's okay to be excited about a licensed game like Fall of Cybertron; how long ago was it that the threat of a title featuring a toy, comic, or movie would be guaranteed to bum you out on some level with shoddy gameplay, slapdash visuals, and the usual laundry list of shortcuts for tie-ins.
Which is my way of saying I'm pretty stoked about what High Moon has been showing off with Fall of Cybertron. The trailer details the character customization options as well as touting the game's 10 multiplayer levels. I'm just gonna assume right now we'll be getting...

Some gamers out there might think that the golden age of rhythm games have come and gone, with franchises like Guitar Hero and Rock Band a thing of the past. However, more astute fans of the genre may realize that the rhythm games are finally coming into their own. Instead of straight mechanics driven experience, more adventurous developers are branching out and experimenting with rhythm-based gameplay as part of a larger story-driven game. Take, for example, Sega's latest 3Ds release, Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure – a game that relies entirely on structured mini games with rhythm-based mechanics to serve as the gameplay for the plot heavy story.
To get the story going, Raphael, the game's main protagonist, is living in the wake of his father's mysterious disappearance three years earlier, leaving him to fend for himself on the streets of Paris. Fortunately, he has done rather well as his alter ego,...

The 3Ds gets its second rhythm game this week with Rhythm Thief, Quantum Conundrum is finally coming to consoles, and walk right to hack and slash with Dungeon Fighter Live.
Title: Rhythm Thief & The Emperor's Treasure
Platform(s): 3Ds
Remember Elite Beat Agents? That game was pretty alright. But we really haven't gotten another rhythm game in that vein from Sega in a good long while. Enter Rhythm Thief & The Emperor's Treasure, which is getting its U.S. release this week.
This kind of story-based rhythm game might not be an easy sell (how many times, exactly, will you play it), but they're the kinds of titles that you'll pick up and play compulsively until you complete them (at least, that was my experience with PaRappa, Space Channel 5, and Elite Beat Agents). The vital question here is how well Sega through developer Xeen have integrated the narrative, and if...

Nintendo have unveiled their newest release schedule for the 3Ds including confirmed dates for key titles Mario Tennis Open and Sega’s Rhythm Thief & The Emperor’s Treasure.
Unfortunately, the schedule is far from complete, since around half of the titles have no firm date attached to them other than a month or a quarter, but at least we can see what Nintendo have lined up for the handheld in the coming months. With the Vita likely to take at least some attention from them in the handheld marketplace, a statement of intent like this is probably a good idea.

[Update at 9:24 Am Pst: the Re: Revelations demo is available now.]
Capcom's demo is available now as the first in a wave of several more downloadable demos on the platform as Nintendo attempts to make a bigger digital push.
Turn on your 3Ds this morning and navigate to the eShop and you should be greeted with something you don't normally see: a demo for a full-sized retail game—in this case, Resident Evil: Revelations—just waiting for you to try it. Well, that's the plan, anyway since as of this morning it's not listed at the top level of the shop or by searching for it. Majesco's Cooking Mama 4 is also due for a demo today, but like Re: Revelations it's still a no-show as of around 7:00 Am Pst.
But the actual plan to make the demo available on the console represents a shift on Nintendo's part to a more agile way of approaching digital content after their previous...

During my time with EA's latest foray into virtual people management, I realized that a handheld game was actually the optimal experience for The Sims: with its more limited scope than its console and PC counterparts, you're able to set your own level of investment, whether that involves lots of furious management of your imaginary pet and/or their owner, or a more casual style of play where you simply let them do their thing with minor nudges here and there.
So the platform is a match for the material. But does that mean it's any good?
The Basics
It's a bite-sized Sims experience on your 3Ds, meaning you'll be creating and customizing a person and/or pet, putting them to work, making new friends, and building that extension on your home that you always wanted. At its core, this is the same game we've been playing for the better...

What you'll be playing in the first quarter of the new year if you're in Japan.
...or importing, if that's your thing.
During yesterday's livestream, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata revealed the company's lineup of first and third-party games coming to the 3Ds for next year, and let's note the key word here: 3Ds. The Wii was—save for one mention—pretty much absent from the broadcast with the majority of software support going towards the new handheld. Of course, this isn't a huge surprise as Nintendo starts to shift their focus towards the 3Ds and presumably start making noise about the Wii U in the near-ish future. As for the release dates themselves, a few were already known, but we're finally getting concrete dates on major titles like Kid Icarus: Uprising and the latest Fire Emblem game.

I didn't know I wanted a follow-up to Space Channel 5 so badly until I saw the trailer for Sega's upcoming story-based rhythm game.
If you don't mind my getting nostalgic here for a minute, I used to love some of the more out there story-based rhythm games on previous consoles like the aforementioned Space Channel 5 (and its followup), Parappa the Rapper, and more recently Elite Beat Agents. Admittedly, they're very repetitive experiences good for one or two go-rounds if you're the type looking to perfect your score, but there was something deeply rewarding about the "Simon"-like gameplay and usually gonzo, hyper-color stories.
So you can imagine I'm kind of excited about the upcoming Sega title, Rhythm Thief & The Emperor's Treasure, which is getting a full reveal in this month's Nintendo Power magazine. While you can get a feel for the gameplay and look of the game, the Np feature...
