Decades later, this became a reality when the Roseanne series was revived in 2018. Barr posted offensive racist comments on social media and the series was immediately cancelled. ABC fired Barr and the show continued a few months later as The Conners. It was a hit even without Barr.
Roseanne Barr announced that she wanted to appear during the original NBC broadcast to give a running commentary, but she ultimately backed out.
