The first Scanners film to be filmed on U.S. soil. The previous three Scanners films were filmed in Canada, with the third one having additional filming in Thailand.
Two actors from the Ghoulies franchise appear in this film. Luca Bercovici who directed and co-wrote the original Ghoulies, and Starr Andreef, who co-starred in Ghoulies II. Additionally, both this film and the Ghoulies movies had their FX done by John Buechler.
