The Region 1 DVD box set release for the first season includes a special bonus parody episode entitled "Angel Robo Wedding Peach", which parodies both Wedding Peach and Japanese giant robot anime. The second season box set includes a similar parody episode that turns the show into a Power Rangers-esque sentai team. Both of these parody episodes were originally produced for the show's release on laserdisc in Japan in the mid-1990s.
The series shared members of the production staff with Sailor Moon (1992), leading to several stylistic similarities between the two shows.
Manga artist Nao Yazawa was asked to create the character design for Sandra, and in the original sketches, she gave him a rather extravagant eye patch and ninja-style chain mail. The producers of the series were unhappy with these touches, and so Sandra appeared in the TV series without them, but otherwise remained mostly the same. The original sketch by Nao Yazawa can be found in a special section of volume four of the manga (in the English translation put out by Viz, Sandra's name is translated as "Thundora"), but other than this, he does not appear in the manga storyline itself.
In the original manga, Yuri Tanima (Love Angel Lily) is one-fourth Italian.
The Love Angels are each named after a different flower (Peach, Daisy, Lily, Salvia), while many of the prominent devils are named after weather or other natural phenomena from various western languages, including Rain Devila (Rain), Uragano (Hurricane), Thundora (Thunder) and so on.
