Lot of good reasons why this was rated R. I love it. I am used to Michael Wincott though, not this one. But Collins popping into it was good. I just have the shoddy VHS and haven't found it on DVD yet, but i liked it. Jeff is almost as good as Michael, but it was still a good movie.

Getting drugged and awakening to find you're short an organ is a creepy theme of urban legend that's been tackled in at least three b-movies I've seen, but 'The Donor' might stand out most for offering Jeff Wincott a role different from his usual breed. Light mystery, rampant paranoia is the name of the game here. The only thing holding it back from being better is red herrings galore.
Billy Castle (Jeff Wincott) goes on vacation, meets an attractive woman at a bar and awakens to be missing a kidney. He's treated in the aftermath by Dr. Lucy Flynn (Michelle Johnson) who continues to stick by his side as he won't let this injustice go. It sidelines his job as a movie stuntman & torments him as he goes down one dead end after another looking for answers and trying to find out who's responsible.
Some viewers were turned off by Billy's growing obsessive nature, but I found it refreshing. I wouldn't get over such a thing or easily give the guilty culprits a pass so it's fun seeing him being somewhat paranoid. It's everyone being a suspect, the bad guy's "Robin Hood" motivation & the police not giving a damn that I could have done without.
'The Donor' doesn't have a high score and I get why - I hope to never see a chase scene on bicycles again - but it accomplished it's mission being a fun time. It's not the typical martials arts or action vehicle for Wincott, but I enjoyed the premise and the ending was decent.
