Well-done Hollywood satire

Jace Rocker gets possessive credit as writer of this Jim Enright-directed Wicked Picture, an amusing and very well-played spoof of the old Hollywood studio system, starring Jenna Jameson as a tabloid journalist.

Loaded with in-jokes, the movie captures the rapid-fire dialog rom-coms of the 1930s and 1940s, in the vein of Hawks' classic "His Girl Friday", with Jonathan Morgan born to play an XXX-version of those fast-talking phonies. However, it's set in 1958, with tiny (4'11" tall) Davia Ardell perfectly cast as Gina Van Doren, a takeoff on the platinum blonde bombshells of the day like Mamie Van Doren or Joi Lansing. If star Jenna had not done such a good job as the cynical journalist out to write an expose, Ardell would have stolen this picture.

Both blondes contribute hot sex scenes, each humping Peter North as a slick con man European duke adept at seducing blondes. Morgan has a sexy casting couch three-way with Sindee Coxx and Ariel Daye, while Chelsea Blue as tempestuous Mammoth Studios star Veronica Rivers, getting d.p.'d by studio matinee idols played by T.T. Boy and Paul Cox.

Guest star Scotty Schwartz nails the role of a stereotypical Jewish studio boss while Tony Tedeschi plays Davia's director who also gets to service her sexually between takes.

Enright, Rocker and Morgan made several big hits for Wicked in the '90s, including "Haunted Nights", "Western Nights" and "Arabian Nights", and this is another worthy comedy from that team.

Astoundingly bad

This is a film that I had put on the sidelines in my Jenna Jameson 'to watch' category, assuming it was enjoyable fluff. When reviewing X rated films one does not give acting a high priority, however if the film pretends to have a plot line some level of acting is expected. The acting here rates poorly compared to the expected level of an eighth grade school play, it would pan at the high school level.

Perhaps that is too hard on the actors, many of whom are respectable or excellent in other films. The direction however makes the film fall flat. Ridiculous accents and sometimes offensive caricatures make one cringe. Jenna fans may wish to complete their collection, but otherwise this is not recommended.
