The movie was 75% complete when its leading man, 'Sanjeev Kumar', died. The producer of the film, found himself in a tight spot. When Manmohan Desai saw the incomplete film, he suggested that Sanjeev Kumar be made invisible in the remaining portions. Accordingly, the storyline was altered and the film was released with a different story.
Sudhesh Bhonsle did the dubbing for Sanjeev Kumar.
Director. Shantilal Soni, who. than. took. over Proffessor Ki Padosan and. complete. it, before he had directed. Mr.X In Bombay, with Kishore Kumar.
The film was originally titled " Model Girl".
This film started in 1981 with Sanjeev Kumar, Asha Parekh, Raj Babbar & Padmini Kolhapure with Ravi Tandon was the original director . It was indeed launched with the title "Professor Ki Padosan" and later titled "Model Girl". Barring Raj Babbar, Ravi Tandon shot major part of the film including all scenes of Sanjeev Kumar. The film was stuck and shelved in 1982, due to financial problems, not due to death of Sanjeev Kumar in 1985. After Sanjeev's demise, the film was revived with another director with Shekhar Suman stepping into Raj Babbar's role. The title "Dil Mera Deewana" was also selected for a short while in 1990 but they went back to Professor Ki Padosan.
