Producer Tahir Hussain's elder son Aamir Khan acted in the film as a child artist.20 years later his younger son Faisal Khan debuted as a lead in Madhosh 1994.Both the films with same title were produced by Tahir Hussain.
The film Madhosh (1974) was originally planned with Dharmendra,Hema Malini and Vinod Khanna. They opted out due to date problems.
When the film did well, Reena Roy jumped into the bigger league and insisted to act with big heroes. She also did not any supporting roles. This caused her to refuse many films with Rakesh Roshan. He stated this did not bother him as he knew once he gave a big hit she would return to him.
Rakesh Roshan approached the producer but he felt Rakesh looked to soft for the anti hero role. Rakesh gave himself a make over with a fake mustache and wig. He went for the screen test and was selected. But he was signed under the condition that Mahendra Sandhu would get a higher billing than him. Rakesh agreed as he had very little work in those days.
