Stefan Brogren (Archibald 'Snake' Simpson) was the first person to use the word "fuck" on Canadian television.
Stefan Brogren stated in an interview that most of the cast had been put up at a hotel before the big cottage sequence. Being teens, the on-screen parties with drugs and drinking were mirrored at said hotel, and he had been invited to partake but refused, as he considered his confrontation with Joey to be the most important acting of his career, and wished to be lucid and clear-headed for his performance.
The film takes place from June to October 19, 1992.
Much fanfare was made over the use of the F-word by Caitlin during the confrontation at the cottage. In an interview, Stacie Mistysyn revealed the reasoning this was permitted by the network for the first time in history, and made it past the censors, was because this portion of the film was to be aired after 9pm. The CBC censors, as well, agreed this is how a character would indeed respond, so the controversial dialogue was permitted to be aired on network television.
