Major controversy broke out after the film released. Sunil Shetty was cheated by producer Suresh Grover. Suresh had sold a still (picture) from the film of Sunil Shetty with a whiskey bottle to a whiskey company. Sunil was angry about this because he never agreed to endorse any alcohol brand.
After Neelam was dropped from the film, Suresh Grover signed his girlfriend Priya Verma ( Priyali) for the film. She too was later replaced.
Producer Suresh Grover was angry with Anu Malik for composing another version of Macarena for Sohail Khan's Auzaar. Anu kept this bit of information from him. This caused him to replace Malik with Nadeem Shravan for the shelved film Juaa.
Avinash Wadhwan was signed for the film and replaced at the last hour. He had done a photo session and attended the music sessions. He was upset that his friend Suresh Grover would ditch him. Suresh had promised Avinash that after the flopping of Balmaa they would work together again. But Suresh Grover claimed that Avinash did not suit the role of a street thug .That is when Sunil Shetty was signed. Sunil claimed he did not know that he replaced Avinash.
