Rocket Robin Hood (1966)

Trivia

Rocket Robin Hood

Edit
During its late second and third seasons, this TV series shared a lot of animation and background music with another TV series, Spider-Man (1967). Two episodes of this TV series ("From Menace to Menace" and "Dementia Five") had almost all of their animation recycled for the episodes "Phantom from the Depths of Time" and "Revolt in the Fifth Dimension" of Spider-Man (1967) by simply substituting Rocket Robin Hood with Spider-Man on the animated cels. The dialogue from these episodes was also redone, with Spider-Man saying the same lines as Rocket Robin Hood and Little John.
Apparently, this TV series is now in the public domain since the copyright expired in 1994 (for all TV series and films produced before Sunday, January 1, 1978, the copyright has a 28-year duration and must be renewed after the initial period). As of this posting, "Rocket Robin Hood" is airing Saturday mornings on Retro TV; check their website for more information.
Because it was co-produced in Canada, this TV series was a mainstay of Canadian children's television programming for many years. This was because it was also one of the few animated TV series made during the early years of Canada's Canadian Content broadcast regulations to qualify as a Canadian TV series for broadcasters until other Canadian animation studios, such as Nelvana in the 1980s, began producing animated TV cartoons that would also qualify as such.
The famous director Ralph Bakshi (Fritz the Cat and Heavy Traffic) was a director on this TV series. He wasn't happy about working on this show. John Kricfalusi, an employee of Bakshi, made the mistake of telling Bakshi that he loved this show. This caused Bakshi to slam the door of his office and shout angrily at Kricfalusi very loudly.
The French-Canadian version of this TV series had several comedians dubbing the same character. For example: Little John was dubbed by four Canadian comedians: Guy Hoffman (who was from France), Pierre Dufresne, Jacques Godin and Gilbert Chénier. Rocket Robin Hood was dubbed by Jean-Paul Dugas and an unknown comedian. Will Scarlet was dubbed by Mario Verdon and another comedian. For the rest of the characters, only one comedian per role was used.
