This show is largely a continuation of Happy Ever After (1974), which starred Terry Scott and June Whitfield as a middle-aged couple called Terry and June Fletcher and followed a similar plot. When lead writer John T. Chapman announced he did not wish to continue the show in 1979, the BBC were unhappy at the idea of losing a hit show, retooling it as Terry and June and making certain changes to avoid legal issues.
