Australian TV version of the character created by american writer Leslie Charteris in 1928, one of the most celebrated (and filmed) in entire history of Mistery Romance. Though it was undoubtedly inspired by Arsene Lupin, the famous gentleman thief of the French popular literature of the century, the very fact of being Anglo-Saxon has guaranteed greater international spread and a privileged relationship with the film and television industry. It is also said that the Charteris reading has influenced Ian Fleming in the creation of James Bond 007.
