The New Tom & Jerry Show (1975)

Trivia

The New Tom & Jerry Show

Edit
The character of Mumbly, the detective dog, was based on Peter Falk's Columbo.
This series marked the very first time that Tom and Jerry appeared in animated installments produced exclusively for television.
The first Tom and Jerry cartoon produced by Hanna-Barbera itself, as mentioned after the two leave Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Cartoon Studios and creating their animation TV projects in 1957. However, they didn't bother the violence at all, as well as Tom and Jerry constantly became friends.
This is the only incarnation Tom and Jerry are depicted as non-violent friend, which was required under "The Seal of Good Practice". Due to negative attention from fans of the Golden era from 1940-1967, this format is dismissed from latter Tom and Jerry incarnations, as this show ended after its first season.
This show received complaints during its first run, as Hanna-Barbera Productions consequently cease production after the first season. Warner Bros. now owns the rights of this show and due to the negative attention it received since its debut, a complete series DVD box set would not occur.
