The lack of new stop-motion animation is due to the absence of
David Allen, who had created and supervised the stop-motion in the previous movies of the series. Allen's absence was a financial decision: this is the first film of the franchise not to be co-produced by Paramount Home Video, which put a financial strain on Full Moon Entertainment and led to cost-cutting measures which included not filming new animation.
