Eric Mabius has been arrested for alleged battery in Nassau County, Florida.

The Ugly Betty actor was arrested just after 2am in the early hours of Thursday morning before he was booked at Nassau County Jail and Detention Center at 5:45am on two misdemeanor charges.

He’s facing a battery charge and resisting arrest without violence, both misdemeanors for which he is awaiting trial. In a mugshot, Mabius sports a black eye.

Mabius is known for playing Daniel Meade on ABC’s Ugly Betty for its four-season run from 2006 to 2010, as well as his recurring roles on The L Word, The O.C. and Chicago Fire. He also starred as Oliver O’Toole in Hallmark Channel’s Signed, Sealed, Delivered, as well as the subsequent film franchise.

Since making his acting debut in a 1989 episode of the NBC cop drama "In the Heat of the Night," Walton Goggins has been a most welcome presence on screens big and small. He first popped as police detective Shane Vendrell in the electrifying FX series "The Shield," and won our hearts as the scarily charming criminal Boyd Crowder over six brilliant seasons of FX's "Justified." Forget about critics plucking the feathers from The Crow at 19%, those moviegoers who attended Thursday night, predominantly fans, slammed the movie on Comscore/Screen Engine’s PostTrak with one star, a 47% grade and a 36% definite recommend.

Lionsgate limited its skin in the game with a $10M North American acquisition and $15M P&a on this Rupert Sanders-directed take, starring burgeoning It and John Wick: Chapter 4 genre star Bill Skarsgård. At the end of the day, the studio stands to lose more — in the neighborhood of $30M — on its $110M-plus feature take of gonzo sci-fi video game Borderlands.

I’m somewhat bewildered over how outraged people have been over the new version of The Crow (don’t call it a remake!). Many are calling it a stain on the legacy of the late, great Brandon Lee, who infamously was killed in an on-set tragedy, but by examining the franchise as a whole, it’s clear that as far as these things go, the franchise has been exploited to death. Based on the comic book series created by James O’Barr, the first version of The Crow was released in 1994 and told the tragic story of goth rocker Eric Draven and the love of his life, Shelly Webster. Later this year, we’ll be getting a remake of The Crow, with the story of Eric and Shelly being told all over again. It seems kind of strange to do a remake and revisit characters in a franchise that lends itself to the anthology format, where each film can be focused on a different vengeful, undead person… but it does make business sense, because The Crow remake is getting more attention than the three Crow sequels ever got. After years of stops and starts, The Crow reboot is finally flying and now has the first trailer to prove it.

Bill Skarsgard leads the film, which centers on a man who is murdered, alongside his fiancée but is granted supernatural powers to seek revenge.

The Crow began life as a comic book, with James O’Barr debuting the character in 1989. It grew to new levels of popularity with the cult hit film, which starred the late Brandon Lee, who was tragically killed in an on-set accident during filming. Multiple sequels followed, including The Crow: City of Angels (1996), The Crow: Salvation (2000) and The Crow: Wicked Prayer (2005).

But the current reboot took nearly 20 years to get off the ground, with multiple stars and filmmakers coming and going. Blade Stephen Norrington took a stab at one point, while F. Javier Gutiérrez (Before the Fall) and star Luke Evans tried to break the curse at another point.

It may be downright difficult to believe, but "The Crow" remake has finally happened. Yes, happened, not happening, as had been promised for so long. Lionsgate has now dropped the first trailer for the long-awaited new adaptation of the comic book by James O'Barr. After all these years, we are, at long last, going to see what Eric Draven looks like in a modern context a full 30 years after the first film arrived in 1994. Check it out for yourself above.

The Crow series is a prime example of the sad but true happening of diminishing returns. While these are not 100% horror, they are often categorized as so and do contain a certain amount of horror elements. So if horror-adjacent is an issue, you’ve been warned. When it comes to the third entry in the series, well, it’s not exactly beloved. But it turns out it’s not the worst of the bunch, either. The Crow: Salvation (get it Here) didn’t do well upon release, didn’t exactly do well financially, and it’s not beloved by fans. Yet, something is interesting here, and it may be a lesson about filmmaking, timing, and taking risks.

The Crow, Rupert Sanders’ reimagining of Alex Proyas’ 1994 cult classic, has found a place to roost.

The Crow will be the first major international production to film in the new Penzing Studios, a backlot recently opened in a former air force base in Penzing, 30 miles west of Munich, Germany. All virtual production on The Crow will be done at Penzing, with location shoots in Prague and Munich. The production will also carry out the majority of its digital asset creation and VFX work in Bavaria, Germany.

Exclusive: Dave Halls, the first assistant director of Rust, is not a DGA member, even though the film was being produced in New Mexico under a DGA contract.

Halls, who the Santa Fe Sheriff’s Department has identified as the person who handed Alec Baldwin the gun that shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the Bonanza Creek Ranch set last week, is what’s commonly known as a “financial core” non-member – or an “agency fee paying non-member” – meaning that he either chose not to join the DGA or had resigned his membership. Joel Souza, who was wounded by the same bullet that killed Hutchins, is a DGA member.

DGA rules require that “If you are an Assistant Director, Unit Production Manager, Associate Director, or Stage Manager, you must take Safety Pass Training.” And though Halls is not a DGA member, safety records show that he has completed both “Mandatory...

The fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins by Alec Baldwin last week on the Santa Fe set of Rust wasn’t the first time First Assistant Director David Hills worked on a film where a weapon discharged unexpectedly.

Back in late 2019, a gun went off on the Arkansas set of Freedom’s Path, where Halls was an Ad. The incident caused a member of the Rocket Soul Studios-produced movie’s sound department to jump back from the close-by blast.

“First of all, our condolences go out to everyone affected by the recent tragic event in New Mexico,” said one of the producers of Freedom’s Path to Deadline today.

“I can confirm that Dave Halls was fired from the set of Freedom’s Path in 2019 after a crew member incurred a minor and temporary injury when a gun was unexpectedly discharged,” he added. “Halls was removed from set immediately after the prop gun discharged.

Spooks: The Greater Good has been in production this year, with Game Of Thrones' Kit Harington leading the cast. Only two episodes left now and man it is looking like it’s going to go out on a massively epic and unexpected note. If they stick the landing this will be one of the best crime saga’s of all time standing alongside The Wire and The Sopranos.

Despite the fact that Jane Levy claimed to hate filming Evil Dead, she is back for more horror. THR reports that she has signed on to the horror thriller, In a Dark Place. The Crow: Salvation’s Bharat Nalluri will direct.

With a plot that includes England and a haunted doll, the film is already off to a good start.

“The thriller centers on a young American woman who moves to England to become the governess of a porcelain doll, which the family treats as its own son. When the family leaves for a holiday, the woman begins to think the doll is haunted and may be alive,” The Hollywood Reporter said.

It looks like production will start in the spring of 2013.

Horror fans who don’t watch Suburgatory will be introduced to Jane Levy when the upcoming remake of Evil Dead is released this April, and it’s being reported that she has signed on to star in another horror film, titled In a Dark Place.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Levy will play the role of an “American woman who moves to England to become a governess of a porcelain doll, which the family treats as its own son. When the family leaves for a holiday, the woman begins to think the doll is haunted and may be alive.”

Blond, hot body Bradley Cooper as a Goth action hero? We can't quite picture it, yet, but the 'Limitless' star is in talks to headline a new version of 'The Crow.'

Variety reports that Cooper is in "early negotiations" for the lead role with Relativity Media. He recently flew to Spain to meet with director Juan Carlo Fresnadillo ('28 Days Later'), who was impressed with Cooper's take on the character.

Brandon Lee starred in the first 1994 Crow film as a musician who returns from the grave to avenge his own murder; the son of Bruce Lee tragically died in an on-set accident. He was followed by Vincent Perez in 'The Crow: City of Angels,' then Eric Mabius in 'The Crow: Salvation.'

It's not clear if Fresnadillo will be using the script Goth rocker Nick Cave wrote when director Stephen Norrington was attached.

The 1994 gothic action shoot-em-up The Crow is the latest film to be considered worthy of a reboot, as it was announced that 28 Weeks Later director Juan Fresnadillo will take the reins for a forthcoming remake.

The original Crow, based on a comic book by James O'Barr, featured Brandon Lee as a musician called Eric Draven, who rises from the dead to avenge his own murder, and that of his fiancee. The film became notorious when Lee died on set after a prop gun malfunctioned.

The Crow became a cult hit, making $50m at the Us box office, and spawned three sequels, The Crow: City of Angels, The Crow: Salvation, and The Crow: Wicked Prayer, as well as a TV series starring Mark Dacascos.

"The Crow" has been a franchise that Hollywood has inexplicably rendered an utter and colossal failure. The original 1994 film starring the late, great Brandon Lee and directed by Alex Proyas was a genre masterpiece; a dark gothic fairy tale of tragic romance and violent revenge, with Lee as a slain musician brought back to life one year after he and his fiance are murdered to "put the wrong things right."

Horror fanatics are still buzzing like chainsaws over the Academy Awards’ genre montage. Anywhere there could be a conversation about it online, there was one. Many were upset over the Twilight ‘tweens’ participation, as if their mere presence sent a message about the state of scary in Hollyweird, USA.

A few seemed happy, though, to just get a glimpse of their beloved Evil Dead and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 if only for a few seconds. But many called the selections generic and thoughtless, demanding the likes of Demons and TerrorVision instead (well, maybe not TerrorVision; that was just me).

It’s that time of year again, kids. Dread Central’s 2010 Horror at the Oscars coverage. Horror was indeed present this year and in black-tie. While Roger Corman and Lauren Bacall were honored a few months back at the Governor’s Award Ceremony, it was an unexpected delight to see Corman, recipient of the lifetime achievement Oscar, enjoy a standing ovation on national television.

I was, however, very disappointed that neither of them were allowed to speak. Roger Corman’s contributions to modern cinema are too vast for him to just stand up and wave. James Cameron was one of many Corman acolytes present, and his nomination speaks to Corman’s tremendous legacy. On the Terminator DVD Cameron mentions, "I trained at the Roger Corman Film School.” Jonathan Demme, Martin Scorsese, and Francis Ford Coppola, among many others, were also former students.

Director Stephen Norrington has a hit-and-miss record when it comes to comic book movie adaptations. His Blade was praised by comic book fans and performed well enough at the box office to spawn two theatrical sequels and a short-lived TV series. However, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen failed to cover its budget at the domestic box office and was almost universally panned by critics.

When it was first announced that a new The Crow movie was in the works back in December 2008, Norrington, who is writing the script as well as directing, said that his intention is to make a more "realistic, hard-edged, and mysterious" movie than director Alex Proyas' "gloriously gothic and stylized" 1994 original. Not much has been heard about The Crow since then, but Norrington recently updated the status of the movie in a brief interview with Mania. The producer and visual effects people are crunching numbers.

A couple of months ago we got wind of the news that Terminator Salvation and Avatar star, Sam Worthington, was going to be replacing Tom Cruise in the spy thriller, The Tourist. That’s the male lead sorted out, but what about the female lead? Well, up until this point it was Charlize Theron who was set to play the role, but today we learn - by way of THR’s Risky Biz Blog - that she’s officially stepped away from the project, and word is that Brad Pitt’s even prettier half, a.k.a. Angelina Jolie, is in talks to step in and take her place.

A year ago, it seemed a remake of Jerome Salle's French thriller "Anthony Zimmer" was all set to begin filming in early 2009 with Tom Cruise and Charlize Theron starring and Bharat Nalluri ("The Crow: Salvation") directing. All of those players have now passed their respective hats though. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Theron is out and will potentially be replaced by Angelina Jolie.

The English-language redo, which is titled "The Tourist," had already seen Cruise replaced with "Terminator Salvation" actor Sam Worthington. Reportedly Nalluri is also off the film and producers seek a filmmaker who will work well with Jolie. Interestingly enough, the female half of Brangelina just finished shooting the action/thriller "Salt," for which she had replaced Cruise in the gender-switched lead role.

It is somewhat surprising that Jolie would go from that movie to a similar project, as both are thrillers in which she plays an international agent of some sort.
